AT Professional donates system to Freddie Shortjoe - Indigenous elder from Pormpuraaw

AT Professional has donated a TH300XA system to Freddie Shortjoe who with the help of the Queensland Arts Council has visited Brisbane for an intimate show with solo artist Roz Pappalardo at the Powerhouse.

This has been Freddie's second big trip back to the big smoke in 40 years -the first to accept best Indigenous Song at Q Music!s Q Song awards in 2006 at The Tivoli. Roz was honored and touched that Freddie can share this special time and event with her friends and family.

The active system was donated to the Pormpuraaw elder to assist him in presenting his song writing and performances that he conducts in both his native language and english back home in Northern Queensland. The addition of a portable system will greatly improve his ability to perform to larger audiences of locals.

David Jackson with the QLD Arts Council speaks about his relationship with the elder that has developed over a number of years:

"This project has not formed over night.  I have known Freddie since 2006 through my remote work with the not-for-profit organisation, Queensland Arts Council.  Freddie is one of Queensland’s oldest and most remarkable song makers.  He writes song in language and can also perform modern Country and Western.  Freddie’s work as been recorded and archived by QMusic in 2006 and again in 2008.  Freddie also works closely with Pormpuraaw State School to inspire the next generation of performers and to keep the local stories and traditions alive.  Freddie also performs songs with his family, which is an awesome performance to witness.  Freddie last traveled to Brisbane in 2006 where he was awarded best Indigenous artist at the QMusic QSong awards.  Before that it had been 40 years since his last visit to Brisbane.  Freddie is keen to perform one again in Brisbane.

Freddie will use this extremely portable and light weight equipment to rehearse, perform locally and potentially record, his music.  Freddie does not currently have ready access to this professional equipment and is invaluable for the work and artistry he performs.  The PA will enable him to connect multiple inputs so he can work solo (Guitar and Vocal) and in small group situations with his family, community members and potentially the school children."

AT Professional were excited about being involved with this project and look forward to hearing from Freddie and David in regards to how the system is assisting his performances and songwriting.
